One of the most difficult things about getting ready for back-to school is reestablishing both morning and evening routines.
Two weeks before school begins, we start having earlier bedtimes and wake up calls. Move bedtime up about 15-30 minutes each week until you reach optimum bedtime.
Set a routine where backpacks are ready and by the door the evening before and clothes are laid out for the next day before you go to bed. Go over morning check-lists so that everyone is prepared for what will happen when school starts again.
Most doctors recommend that 6-9 year-olds get 10 hours sleep, that preteens get nine hours and teens get about 8-9 hours of sleep each night.
