How to celebrate an American tradition

BYU Football

College football is now in full swing and I couldn’t be more excited! There really isn’t anything like it – the colors, the bands, the crowds and traditions (check out a list of college football’s 25 greatest traditions here).

I didn’t always love football…My earliest memories of game day were stolen moments spent hiding under the bed. What?! Um yeah. My dad, a former player, would get just a touch excited about the sport. In fact, he’d get so excited while watching games on television, well, let’s just say he may have yelled at the tv enough to send me into a panic…I always ran to hide.

I didn’t gain a true appreciation for the sport until college. I don’t know if it was the boys, or the school spirit, but by the end of my four-year stint I loved the game!

Today, we celebrate the start of football season with a party – or two. We’re a split household of the worst kind – tried and true “Holy War” football rivals.

Here are a couple of shots from our most recent celebration…

For your celebration, look for the following:

  • Food colored to match the home team
  • Small bite sized pieces, like appetizers and mini sandwiches
  • Plastic wear to match the home team
