It’s HGTV Design Star Time!

You might remember when I confessed my love of reality television challenges? Well, turns out I am going to talk about it again…It’s HGTV Design Star time.

Season 6 kicked off last night with the regular challenge – designing the living space. I loved some of the rooms and well, some of them, not so much…

The highlight for me was the living room. The style was perfect for an open floor NYC apartment. The focal point of the room was definitely the amazing recycled coffee table picked out by Leslie (I will end up loving her or hating her). I loved it.

The only thing I didn’t like was the planter/pillow thing Cathy (rude alert: her mouth reminds me of a horse) turned out just didn’t look like it matched the modern grandeur of the room.

The worst? The orange paint Kevin used in the bedroom and the decor Blanche used in her bedroom design…

Do you watch? What was your favorite? Did you like the judges pick – the bonus room?

My favorite challenge – the white box challenge – is coming up next week. Fun!

P.S. Monday I posted a really fun piece about the top free digital publications on the web over on the SNAP! blog. You’ve got to check them out…great for pinning!

I have to say I’m not feeling Cathy’s designs (from her portfolio) and wasn’t a fan of Blanche’s either. Not sad that she’s gone. I loved the winning room, #3, with the tree mural. It felt cool, calming… Not sure what designer i’l be rooting for this season.

I LOVE the bonus room! That was the best room of the whole house. Totally agree with their choice. Cathy’s pillow bench looked like a pillow storage box and looked uncomfortable, not to mention that the judges said so! Kelly was my favorite from the beginning and I LOVE Design Star… and of course, it doesn’t hurt that David Bromstad’s there.

Good day! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

  5. I agree NS, that the winter garden wouldn’t be nearly as interesting without the coloured bark and stems of the trees and shrubs.Sorry to hear that your birch tree has died but I’m sure the wildlife still loves it and I’m not surprised your woodpeckers find lots to eat under the bark. Woodpeckers , nuthatches and treecreepers explore under the bark of our dead oak, there is obviously lots for them to eat!
