Kindle Cover?

Earlier this month, the Mr. surprised me with a Kindle. Cool, right?!

I was a bit apprehensive about the whole e-Reader thing…It was on and off the Christmas list, birthday list, etc. I think perhaps he was worried it would go on and off the Valentine’s list so I got an early February fun gift. I LOVE IT!

I’ve cruised through several new books and would love to take this little beauty on the road (perfect for transit rides), but I am hesitant. I am totally worried I will scratch it to death.

So I started searching for a cover…people there are like 6,000 options on ETSY alone!

1. Love this little flowered option for $26. It is so bright and cheery.

2. Anything appliquéd is great in my book. I love the little elephant and the inside of this $50 cover. Is it too childish?

3. How about this one for $24.99? The pink is a bit much for me, but it is awfully close to Honeysuckle – the 2011 Pantone color of the year.

4. How can you not love anything with little dachshunds on it? My first dog was a “hot dog” and I am a sucker for prints like this one for $28.99.

5. Again, loving the appliquéd look on this $75 yeti case. It’s not really my style, but the boys would be thrilled!

6. This charcoal grey (one of my favorite colors) $29.99 case is a bit boring with summer on its way, but I love the idea of the zippered pocket.

7. Just loving the pattern of this linen case listed for $18.99. It’s simple and classic.

8. This is one of my favorites. The linen and polka dot denim combo gets a little countryish for me, but I love the leather bottom. And, it’s only $18.99 – that’s a deal.

So, which one do I pick? Or, do you have a better idea for me entirely?

Truth be told, I am sort of considering even making one myself…tossing around the idea of seeing what I could make with items already in the house???

What would you do?

While your pondering that, any good book suggestions?

#2 was my favorite from the first. I love the inside, and I don’t think it is too childish, but maybe they have one without the elephant.

I know. Not loving the elephant. Love the detail work though…

A city with such an incredible unemployment rate and at the same time a complete meltdown in its real estate market. Is it any surprise, with such intellectual and moral titans, as anonymous earlier posted, saying it's "obama money"…. You could say idiocy, and Hell itself, just had a new ring built, and called it Detroit.

      • Dani, how wonderful to hear from you! And great to know you’re still working with an ed. Keep writing, because I want to read all the wonderful stories you have to tell. Romance might have common themes, but every author has a different perspective, different characters, and you have to share yours with us!

      • I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

      • I think self-acceptance and self-forgiveness do go together….but also can exist one without the other. In other words….we can forgive ourselves but still not accept ourselves and we can accept ourselves without really being forgiving. The best thing is to work on both!Happy hunting with Freud!!

I got a kindle for christmas and love it too. I got the amazon leather cover with the built in booklight. It makes reading at night so easy and the light runs off power from the kindle do you never have to change batteries. Highly recommend it!

    • Tauni says:

What?! I had no idea they made a cover with a light…Powered by the Kindle? That’s awesome!!! Thanks for the suggestion.

You’ve always been a big reader. You’ll have to share any good books you’ve been reading. Everyone tells me I need a Good Reads account, do you have one of those?

tonight when we finished, Hey mom you know that could be me. You know rideang is tough for me, and I have a hard time. I told him I know, but you can do anything you dream of My son’s reply I know mama, and I know I’m not alone. . Your book choked me up as a mom because I see his struggle, but his response left me thinking he will rise above this and he will do great. He also left me blubbering! Thank you for this book and how the story is told he heard he could do this thing called life and come out on top.

  3. I like both #1 and #7. But I totally think you could make one on your own. And if you don’t have stuff that would work, you could probably do a swap with friends, etc. to exchange items they’re not using for items you’re not using and make the perfect cover. I’m thinking I may make a cover for my mom’s new kindle. And my sister’s new nook. Thanks for inspiring me!

    • Tauni says:

You know, I think that number one may be my favorite right now…I am really leaning toward making something, but then Jaime mentioned the cover with the build in light…

If you make a cover, please share. I would love to see what you do!

Yes, I have a goodreads account and love it. I enjoy seeing what books my friends have read and I like to look back at all of the books I have read. Besides that, they have giveaways of first read books that you can enter to win. I have won two books so far. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

    • Tauni says:

Okay Autumn. You’ve pushed me to the edge. Going to try to stay awake long enough to sign up for goodreads tonight! Thanks for the recommendation!

I just got a kindle last week for my birthday after going back and forth about it for the last few years. Like Jaime, I bought the lighted cover from amazon (in green, which goes really well with my graphite kindle)and I’m loving it. I use it in dim lighting and when there’s no light, like when I’m waiting at my son’s soccer practice. My only advice is DON’T download the game “Every Word”-it’s addictive!

    • Tauni says:

      Jane,

Ahhahahaha. I’ve already downloaded Every Word – it’s too late!!! I am still so torn over the cover. Love the idea of the light, but love the look of a handmade case….Urrrgh. I just need to make a decision here!

It was a pleasure to meet both of you dinurg the Family Fun and Food Festival and visit your site. Thank you for coming to see me. I regret we didn’t have the time to visit, but I am encouraged/pleased/grateful to meet two more fathers answering the same calling that has driven me to start writing. And I must thank you for establishing a link to my website. I think you will be happy to learn I was able to place many copies of My Father’s Gift into circulation over the weekend and was thus able to share some of the greater rewards associated with being a loving parent. May God continue to grant you the necessary strength, enlightening wisdom, and fortitude of certainty to continue your good work. I am certain you will be rewarded with many blessings for doing so, in ways you can’t begin to imagine. I have. It remains my hope, after reading My Father’s Gift , it still meets your approval and you determine we have reason to meet again.Your humble servant,Rodney
