It’s National Popcorn Day!

It's National Popcorn Day!
Yes. Another national day…But, I LOVE popcorn so how could I bypass National Popcorn Day?!? While the origins of this auspicious day are unknown, I can’t think of a more a-maize-ing way to celebrate a plain January 19. I have to admit I am drawn to the over buttered packages of microwave popcorn in the grocery store, but this early in the year I am still sticking with my New Year’s...

Great books for kids: ‘Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving

Great books for kids: ‘Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving
There are times I get so wrapped up in big-time traditions that I simply forget how important every day rituals are. One of the greatest things my mom passed on to me was a love of reading. And really, what better time is there to share a favorite book with your kids than the holidays? Thanksgiving is of course, a wonderful holiday, but for kids it can be a bit of a bore…the cleaning, the cooking...

How to top off Thanksgiving right: Pottery Barn inspired turkey hat

How to top off Thanksgiving right: Pottery Barn inspired turkey hat

While scanning the pages of Pottery Barn Kids, I came across this photo: There are so many great things about this photo – the darling kids table and tablecloth, the seat backs – but, what I really love are the hats. Of course, I don’t have the budget...

Celebrating the Great Pumpkin

What a great show?! The kids quote lines from the flick clear through early November. Here’s one of our favorite scenes. It always solicits zillions of giggles. Of...

National Pizza Month: Halloween monster pizza

National Pizza Month: Halloween monster pizza
Did you know that October is National Pizza Month? It’s true!?! And, with three boys, any sort of celebration that involves pizza is a pretty popular one…I think we’ve tried every commercial brand of pizza known to man. We aren’t fans of the frozen store pizza’s, but the kids are continually adjusting their “top ten” types of pizza. I am happy to report they’ve added a new favorite...

Friday Favorites: Pirate edition

Friday Favorites: Pirate edition
1. Funky, cool print from Not Martha for BlogHer/Kirtsy Voices of the Year Auction to raise money to clean up the Gulf of Mexico. Bid on the print for three more days here. 2. Love these vintage dictionary prints. They would be great decor for any pirate party, Halloween event or little boys room. 3. If I had $2K to spend on children’s bedroom furniture, I would definitely invest in this pirate...
